WHETHER WITH The Afghan Whigs, The Twilight Singers, The Gutter Twins with Mark Lanagan, or solo, Greg Dulli has earned a position of admiration as a first rate songwriter, a view that will be reinforced by his newly announced tour, which takes in Galway.
'An Evening With Greg Dulli' is a 31 city tour across 11 countries in Europe and and US, starting in Galway at the Róisín Dubh on Saturday February 6 at 8pm, and it will see Dulli and his band perform a wide selection of songs encompassing his entire career along with debuting several new ones, including 'A Crime', which is now a free download from www.gregdulli.com The song is written by Sharon Van Etten and features Ani DiFranco.
Dulli began his musical career as front man and guitarist for The Afghan Whigs in 1987, with whom he released six albums, before othe band called it a day in the late 1990s. Dulli went on to form The Twilight Singers, with whom he made the acclaimed albums Blackberry Belle (2003 ), Powder Burns (2006 ), and Dynamite Steps (2011 ). Inbetween he collaborated with Mark Lanegan as The Gutter Twins. In 2012, The Afghan Whigs reunited for a massively successful tour which included Lollapalooza and SXSW, before releasing the album Do To The Beast (2014 ). The Whigs are currently working on a new album for Sub Pop Records, which will be released in 2016.
