Renegade Brass Band @ The Loft

AN EIGHT strong horn section, two percussionists, a scratch DJ, and an MC, the Renegade Brass Band's jazz, funk, and hip-hop fusion deliver "aggressive rhymes, tight horns...riotous, raucous and uninhibited!” according to Edinburgh's Samizdat Press.

Galway will see why when the RBB, whose admirers include Mercury Music Prize nominee Ghostpoet, play The Loft in Seven, Bridge Street, on Friday October 23 at 11.30pm.

The band released their debut album, RBB: Rhymes, Beats & Brass in 2014, showcasing their combination of raw brass funk with the vocals of V3xation and scratch DJ Zxodiac. They have also collaborated with Diesler and Rodney P, and did a remix swap with The Herbaliser, featured on the band’s There Were Seven: Remixes album. RBB have played a headline shows across Britain and Europe, including the Secret Garden Party, Sea Sessions, Soundwave Croatia, as well as supporting Grandmaster Flash, Public Enemy, Xavier Rudd, Ms Dynamite, DJ Shadow, and DJ Yoda.

The gig will immediately follow the Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway Phil Jupitus/Steven Frost Improv show. Although they are separate shows, those who buy a ticket to the comedy can stay on for free to see the Renegade Brass Band. Tickets are €10 available from sevenbridgestreet.ie
