ONE OF the brightest lights of the roots-influenced underground in recent years, Poland's Mateusz Miller, has pioneered a compelling and unique fusion of sounds that encompasses dub, reggae, and dubstep under his Radikal Guru moniker.
Inspired by King Tubby and Scientist, and an appreciation of soundsystem culture, Guru's music has become synonymous with heavy bass, vibrant and eclectic palettes of tone, and varying energy levels that cater for both dancefloor focused ruckus and for more meditative listening. He first gained worldwide acclaim through a string of vinyl releases on Dubbed Out Records, followed by releases on Moonshine Recordings, including his debut LP The Rootstepa and second LP Subconscious.
Also on the bill is Cian Finn, who is also lead vocalist and founder member of Irish reggae group Intinn. His sound draws on reggae, dubstep, soulful a capeplla moments, and Celtic music. Support is from Galway based electronic music DJ and producer Welfare.
Radikal Guru plays The Loft @ Seven on Thursday October 8 at 10pm. Admission is €10.
