Another large crowd at The Connacht Property Auction 

A crowd of more than 100 people turned up to the latest Connacht Property Auction held last Thursday in The Menlo Park Hotel. In total there were 22 properties offered for sale from across Connacht including Clare, Galway, Mayo, and Leitrim.

With an 88 per cent sold ratio at the June auction and 92 per cent at the April auction, the auction team were expecting another big turnout and they were not disappointed. With a large selection of properties, the auction room was full of hopeful buyers with the crowd spilling into the registration area at the back of the room. In total, 19 of the 22 properties on offer were successfully sold, giving the auction team an 86 per cent success rate on the night. 

One of the most popular lots of the night was Lakelands, Corrandulla, Galway, offered for sale in partnership with Maureen McKeown auctioneers, Salthill. The auction team noted more than 20 enquiries before the auction and expected strong bidding on the night. Bidding started strongly with a number of bids received on this well finished five bedroom property. Bidding opened at €255,000 and quickly increased with the successful bid of €275,000 securing the property.

Another successful sale was licensed public house The Derreen Inn in Abbeyknockmoy, Galway, sold in partnership with Property Partners Long, Tuam. The auction team noted interest from both local and national buyers for this well-known local premises. This property with both commercial and residential use was sold for an undisclosed figure prior to the auction.

The final lot of the night was a traditional style property brought to the market in partnership with Emma Gill auctioneer, Ballinrobe. The property in Lackaghbeg, Lackagh, had received significant interest in the lead up to the auction and stong bidding was expected on the property. Indeed it did not disappoint with several parties raising their bidding paddles. Initial bids received came in at €140,000 and again swiftly increased until the successful bidder emerged with an offer of €162,000.

In other areas, there were a number of successful sales including a holiday home in Doolin, Clare, which was sold in partnership with Arthur & Lees auctioneers, Ennis, for €105,000.

A substantial period property, The Old Parochial House in the village of Killala, Mayo, was offered for sale in partnership with The Optimun Group, Ballina. The premises was subject to strong interest in the lead up to the auction and was successfully sold for €260,000.
