Arcade Fire: The Reflektor Tapes @ The Eye

Canadian indie band's debut feature film to be screened on Thursday

ARCADE FIRE: The Reflektor Tapes, the feature documentary on the making of Arcade Fire's No 1 album and its accompanying world tour, will be screened in The Eye Cinema Galway this Thursday [September 24] at 9pm.

Directed by Kahlil Joseph, the 2013 Sundance Grand Jury prizewinner for Short Films, and produced by the award-winning studio Pulse Films, The Reflektor Tapes is a fascinating insight into the making of Reflektor, charting Arcade Fire's band’s creative journey as they lay foundations for the album in Jamaica; begin recording in their native Montréal; play an impromptu gig at a Haitian hotel; before bringing their live show to packed arenas in Los Angeles and London.

As well as concert performances, the film offers fans an opportunity to delve beneath the surface and get closer to Win Butler and Régine Chassagne's band, blending in never before seen personal footage, including interviews, documentation of the recording process, and moments captured by the band themselves. The Reflektor Tapes also features a previously unreleased track, and 20 minutes of unseen footage, filmed only for cinema audiences. “There were parts of the Reflektor tour where I think we, Arcade Fire, came the closest in our careers to putting on stage what we imagined in our heads," the band has said of the film. "We were insanely lucky to have Kahlil Joseph documenting from the very beginning."

To celebrate the screening of The Reflektor Tapes in The Eye, the Róísín Dubh will host the Arcade Fire afterparty, with music, drinks and Arcade Fire merchandise following the screening. For more information see www.eyecinema.ie, www.roisindubh.net, and www.TheReflektorTapes.com
