Craughwell AC athletes produced a clean sweep in the second Killeeneen National School 5k Road Race.
The in-form Jason Broderick continued to impress, winning easily in a good time of 15.44, to finish well clear of Peter O'Sullivan and Johnny Lane who were next home.
First home for the ladies was Edel Kelly in 19:47, with Fionnuala Keane crossing the line in 20:47 for second. Aideen Gilchrist Gillespie was third lady overall in 23:08 .
Athlone Half Marathon
Galway athletes produced several strong performances at the Athlone Flatline Half Marathon on Saturday.
Athenry AC's Jane Ann Meehan produced a new personal best to win the women's event in a superb time of 1hr 20 mins, while GCH's Siobhan Egan continued her run of form to clock 1 hr 28 for third place. Among the top 10 men was another Athenry athlete, Lyall Guiney, who ran a PB of 77mins 06 to take eighth place overall. Gearoid Rohan of Athenry AC ran 1hr 19 for 14th place.
Fixtures
The Galway Primary School championships day one will take place September 22 in Renmore. All schools are encouraged to enter and should have received entry forms from the Galway County Board. The finals will be held the following week on September 29.
The Galway Cross Country Championships will take place on October 4 in the Palace Grounds in Tuam for juveniles at even ages, while the county adult races will also take place with the ladies off first over 4km, and the men running a challenging 8km over the testing Tuam course.
Craughwell AC will host day two on October 11 across the uneven ages for juveniles at its new cross country facility.
