Ready to run and bike in the Corribdale Duathlon

The third annual Corribdale Duathlon takes place on September 27 in Oughterard, Co Galway.

The event, comprising a four-kilometre run, a 13k cycle, and a two-kilometre run to finish, is expected to attract triathletes, cyclist and runners, but it is open to anyone wanting to test themselves.

Organised jointly by the Corribdale Project, Corrib Athletic Club, and Rás Chonamara, the duathlon starts with a flat four kilometres course along the Owenriff River, while the 13k bike course takes place on the N59 with two inclines at the beginning and end. The final leg is once again a flat course.

The cost will be €25 per person for individual entries, €40 per two person relay team, with proceeds going to the Corribdale Project.

Sign on is from 9am at the Oughterard Boxing Club, beside the GAA Club, and the event kicks off at 11am.

This race is open to all entrants over 16 years of age with a  roadworthy road bike and a helmet.

For those who would like to take part in one or more of the legs, they can compete in a relay, teams of two are allowed.

On the day Trisha Streiloff and staff of Thera Fitness will be offering free rub downs after a the competition.
