Core Theatre College

CORE THEATRE College's new course, Core Theatre Performance I, runs throughout next month, concentrating on imagination, voice, body, text work, physical theatre, ensemble development, and the Chekhov and Lecoq techniques.

The tutors are Max Hafler (Chekhov and voice ), Miquel Barcelo, and Judith Higgins (Lecoq Ensemble ). The course runs from October 5 to 24, at Branar Theatre, Galway city, Mondays (6pm to 10pm ), Tuesdays (6.30pm to 9:30pm ). The cost is €400, which can be paid in instalments. A deposit of €100 is required. The course is open to anyone over 18 seriously interested in performing. New participants may have to have an informal interview with a small audition component. Galway Actors Workshop

THE GALWAY Actors Workshop is offering day long courses on Saturdays in basic and advanced improv, acrobatic theatre, performance art, the Meisner technique, and professional development, as well as the weekend long Acting for Camera course.

While the GAW's beginners and advanced courses are now fully booked, there are still have places for the 12-week Scene Study and Introduction to Improvisation courses on Tuesday and Thursdays respectively, from 6.30pm to 8.30pm. Courses cost €225/195. Both culminate in public performances at the end of term, providing students the valuable experience of live performance.

The Acting For Camera course includes a reduced rate photography session with a photographer in order to take professional standard head shots which can then be sent to agents and casting directors.
