One of Ireland’s leading art galleries, Gormleys Fine Art has opened a new gallery in Galway City, located at 22 High Street. Established 25 years next year, Gormleys have galleries in Dublin and Belfast, along with an international presence through exhibiting at prestigious International art fairs.
Following a successful arts festival and with Galway which is now recognised as an international cultural city, art lovers will be delighted to have such an established Irish gallery open in Galway. On view will be works by some of Ireland’s leading contemporary artists including Kenneth Webb, James Brohan, John Behan, Arthur Maderson, Ian Pollock, Peter Monaghan, Gordon Harris, Ronan Goti, Eugene Conway and Eileen Meagher.
A family run business owned by Oliver Gormley and his two sons, Gormleys have always been passionate about promoting Irish art.
“With Galway having such a vibrant arts scene and so many talented artists, it feels a natural progression to open a gallery in Galway City. We are delighted be able to showcase our artists to our customers from the west of Ireland and hope to attract more important artists from the west to the gallery,” said Oliver Gormley.
The gallery will be run by James Gormley along with local artist Gordon Harris who can often be found working in the gallery. Primarily a figurative painter, Gordon infuses a harmony between the natural and the conceptual to create works that are provocative and dramatic. His work has been shown at the RHA annual exhibition in Dublin and he is gaining a reputation as one of Ireland’s most promising figurative painters, along with a strong following in the UK and France where he exhibits regularly.”
