Galway Arts Centre autumn classes

GALWEGIANS THINKING of taking up a new creative endeavour for the autumn should check out the upcoming classes in the Galway Art Centre, Dominick Street, which include storytelling via comics, photography, and writing poetry.

Visual Storytelling, which runs over eight weeks, will teach the basics of storytelling via comics and cartooning. The focus will be on storytelling through words and pictures with an emphasis on personal and autobiographical work. Participants will create a multi-page, black and white story for inclusion in a class anthology, a copy of which they will receive at the final class. Previous drawing experience is not required.

Introduction to Digital Photography with Tom Flanagan is suitable for complete beginners to proficient amateurs and will develop technical and creative photographic skills.

Poet Kevin Higgins will facilitate three poetry workshops. The Tuesday evening and Friday afternoon workshops are open to both complete beginners as well as those who've been writing for some time. The Thursday afternoon workshop is an advanced poetry workshop, suitable for those who've participated in poetry workshops before or had poems published in magazines.
