Over The Edge Writers’ Gathering

Readings by Kernan Andrews, Kate Ennals, Clara Rose Thornton, Susan Lanigan, and Ruth Aylett

GALWAY ADVERTISER arts editor Kernan Andrews, poet Kate Ennals, broadcaster Clara Rose Thornton, and writers Susan Lanigan, and Ruth Aylett, will all read at the Over The Edge Writers’ Gathering in The Kitchen, Galway City Museum, on Friday September 11 at 8pm.

Clara Rose Thornton is a spoken word artist, culture journalist, and RTÉ radio and television broadcaster, who is originally from Chicago. She publishes arts and culture criticism internationally, and she has performed spoken word festivals across Europe. She is also the 2014-15 Dublin Slam Poetry Champion.

Poet and short story writer Kate Ennals has been published in Crannog, Skylight 47, The Galway Review, and Ropes. At this event, the poet Kevin Higgins, will launch the Londoner's debut poetry collection At The Edge, published by Lapwing Press.

Kernan Andrews is from Galway and is the arts editor and political correspondent of the Galway Advertiser and its website, www.advertiser.ie His short story, 'Im Niemandsland', was included in the anthology Noir By Noir West, published by Arlen House. He will read from Northern Uproar, his tale of a young Protestant lad in 1970s Northern Ireland whose life is turned upside down by punk and the Sex Pistols.

Ruth Aylett teaches computing and researches artificial intelligence and robotics at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. She jointly wrote the collaborative online epic Granite University,and has been published by Bloodaxe Books, New Writing Scotland, and Doire Press.

Susan Lanigan is the author of WWI novel White Feathers. A story of passion, betrayal, and war, it has been shortlisted for the Romantic Novel of the Year Award 2015, and is published by O’Brien Press's Brandon imprint.
