Lunchtimes with ConTempo

The Galway Music Residency has announced details of the 2015/16 monthly lunchtime concert series with its ensemble in residence, the ConTempo Quartet.

The Galway Music Residency was established in 2002 to cultivate a comprehensive music development programme for Galway, with a professional ensemble at its centre. The programme was designed to bring performances to new audiences in Galway city and county and to broaden the experience of those already involved in music.

Formed in 1995 in Bucharest and celebrating their 20th anniversary this season, ConTempo Quartet has performed world-wide in many prestigious venues, captivating audiences with its repertoire of classical, contemporary, folk, and traditional.

Following a successful three years in the Galway City Library, the lunchtime series is now relocating to Galway City Museum at The Spanish Arch.

Taking place on the first Tuesday of each month, from 1:10pm to 1:50pm, these informal performances are presented with personal introductions from members of the quartet.

The series commences with Shostakovich Quartet No 8 on Tuesday September 1, and will be introduced by Galway City arts officer James Harrold. Supported by The Arts Council, NUI Galway, and Galway City and County councils, admission to these events is free to all and early arrival is recommended.
