Jinx Lennon is a punk poet from Dundalk who uses his voice guitar sampler to spread his uplifting words and help people through the trials of everyday life.
Lennon takes his audience on an emotional rollercoaster, giving beat orations overlaid by acoustic guitar, electronic synth samples, and effects that can make them break out into sporadic laughter and fall into deep reflective angst in the space of one verse. Themes like work, school, dole snitches, water meters, and bust ups outside the chip shop are the meat of Lennon's show.
Alternative folk songwriter and actor Fia Rua (Eoghan Burke ) launched his third album, The Sky Went Low And The Sea Went High, at last year's Galway Fringe Festival, picking up the award for Best Live Act. His latest album concentrates on themes like male identity, global warming, and his former home town of Galway.
Hot Press magazine said of Burke: “Posessing an incredibly distinctive voice with a quavering depth, he draws the listener in and holds nothing back.” Burke has built a fresh sound somewhere near the worlds of folk and indie rock, with a heavy focus on voice and songwriting.
