Improved bus service for Annaghdown students

Bus Eireann has confirmed that a larger 57 seater bus is to be provided for children from the Annaghdown area travelling to Colaiste Baile Chlair.

Confirmation was given to Councillor Mary Hoade after a number of weeks of representations to the company. The situation resulted from an error in the mapping system for Annaghdown students, who were given eligibility status earlier in the year only to later find out that this was changed to concessionary status without any notification from Bus Eireann.

The Department has confirmed that this 57 seater bus will be in operation from next week, and that all parents in the effected area will receive emails in the coming days to confirm their own situation.

Councillor Hoade has also sought an additional stop given that this is a bigger bus and a larger number of pupils will be using it. She argues that a safer pick up and drop off point is required with the increase in numbers. Bus Eireann has confirmed that this is to be addressed.

In the meantime, a number of students in the Corrandulla area are still without tickets. Councillor Hoade is still working with Bus Eireann to try to find a solution to this issue.
