There were scenes of jubilation at Yeats College Galway as students received their Leaving Certificate results on Wednesday last week.
Results achieved by the students in this year’s examinations were phenomenal, with a large number now confident of being offered a place on their first choice college course.
The Yeats College class of 2015 performed extremely well in their Leaving Certificate examinations, with numerous students receiving six, seven, or eight As. An impressive 15 students scored 600 points or over, and a total of 41 students scored 550 points or over.
One ecstatic student was Felipe Amaya from Galway city, who achieved 625 points, the maximum number of points, in his Leaving Certificate and now intends to study engineering at NUI Galway in September.
Another delighted student was Gavin Moore from Swinford, Co Mayo, who also scored the maximum 625 points. He completed the two year programme at Yeats College and thanked the teachers for helping him to achieve a place on his first choice CAO course. Overjoyed with his results, Gavin said: “I’m absolutely ecstatic. I’m going to study mechanical engineering at NUI Galway in September. I’m so glad I came to Yeats College. All the hard work is worth it in the end. The teachers are so friendly and motivated; they really spur you on to fulfil your potential.”
Repeat Leaving Certificate student Megan McCarthy from Oranmore achieved an impressive 605 points and also scored very highly in the HPAT exam. Megan is now looking forward to studying medicine at NUI Galway in September.
