An 'immersive' exhibition @ 126

A PERSON can be immersed in water, an idea, or a situation, be obsessed, overwhelmed, or have 'taken the plunge' into something new. Likewise with transformation, it can happen to the body, the mind, or be about a state leading to the ultimate transformation - transcendence.

These ideas will be explored in States of Being, the latest in the Primary Resource collaborative exhibitions between the 126 Gallery and the artist-led organisation MART. The exhibition opens this evening at 7pm and will feature an exclusive live performance from artists Katherine Nolan and Eleanor Lawler, alongside the performance video works.

The exhibition presents different approaches to ideas of immersion and performance and how it can lead to transformation. Exhibiting artists will be Colleen Keough, Vanessa Daws, Francis Fay, Eleanor Lawler, and Katherine Nolan. It draws on MART’s pool of artists and the nexus of like-minded people which curators Ciara Scanlan and Matthew Nevin have gathered in the course of the group's history.

Staes Of Being runs until Saturday August 29. See www.126.ie.
