City-based catering crew served up €372,000 lotto win

A syndicate group of four work colleagues from a city catering company who have been playing together for fourteen years were in high spirits on Tuesday as they collected their EuroMillions Match 5+1 prize of over €372,000 in National Lottery offices.

The lucky winners, who wish to keep the win private, bought their lucky €10 Quick Pick ticket in Duggan Supermarkets on Renmore Road, Galway City last week ahead of Friday night’s draw. They will split their prize equally, taking home €93,000 each.

“I checked our ticket online but had to ask my local shop to double check it before I could believe what was happening” said one member. “I couldn’t wait to ring the others straight away to share the good news!”

One member of the syndicate also celebrated his birthday on Tuesday, he said; “This is the best birthday ever – how do you top this?!”

They plan to use the windfall to pay some bills as well as treating themselves to a special holiday. The syndicate will continue to play the EuroMillions together and hope to visit National Lottery offices again in the future.

National Lottery good causes benefit from the sale of all National Lottery games, with one third of all sales (approx ) going to fund Beneficiary projects around the country, as designated by Government.
