Chamber Philharmonia Cologne returns to Galway

THE CHAMBER Philharmonia Cologne, or to give the ensemble its proper title, the Kammerphilhamonie Köln, make their annual pilgrimage to Galway to play the music of Vivaldi's Four Seasons in St Nicholas Collegiate Church.

The concert takes place on Thursday August 6 at 8pm and will also feature music by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, and Bach. One of Germany's leading ensembles, its maxim is "To inspire people across the world to enjoy classical music." The permanently expanding repertoire of the Philharmonia seeks to draw on popular and unknown works from a wide variety of musical epochs. Also, the multifaceted composition of the ensemble provides every member of the Philharmonia with the opportunity to perform as a soloist. The Philharmonia gives around 300 concerts a year and regularly tours New Zealand, Australia, Spain, Great Britain, Ireland, and Germany.

Tickets are available from Opus II, 4 High Street (091 - 500300, www.opus2.ie ) and at the door on the night from 7pm. See www.kammerphilharmonie-koeln.de
