The Priests and other concerts at Galway Cathedral

THE PLATINUM selling classical vocal trio The Priests, featuring three Roman Catholic clergymen from Antrim, will be a highlight of the many concerts taking place in Galway Cathedral throughout the summer.

The Priests will perform on Sunday August 16 at 8pm, with the concert being part of the cathedral's Jubilee celebrations. The trio - Fathers David Delargy and brothers Eugene and Martin O'Hagan - have recorded four albums and sold 3.5 million records worldwide. They are also one of the few acts to have been allowed record in St Peter's Basilica in The Vatican. Tickets are €25/15 and are available from the Cathedral Book Shop and Parish Office.

The Galway Cathedral Recitals series continues on Thursdays until early August. The remaining concerts are Dublin organist Rónán Murray, making his Galway début this evening with a concert of Baroque and Romantic music; German organist Lisa Hummel, winner of the 2014 Dublin Organ Competition, on July 30. Her programme will include Bach, Elgar, and Messiaen; Irish mezzo-soprano Sharon Carty and German/Austrian recorder consort Veunv performing Orfea Britannica, a quasi-operatic arrangement of Elizabethan and Jacobean music and song, on August 6.

GCR concerts start at 8pm and are followed by wine and a chance to met the musicians. Admission is €15/10. For more information see recitals.galwaycathedral.ie
