Irish film starring Emma Eliza Regan screened at Giffoni Film Festival

GALWAY ACTRESS Emma Eliza Regan is currently mixing with Hollywood stars Orlando Bloom, Mark Ruffalo, and Martin Freeman at the Giffoni Film Festival in Italy, where Darkness On The Edge Of Town, in which she plays the lead, is being screened.

Darkness On The Edge Of Town, written and directed by Patrick Ryan, features the 25-year-old from Moycullen as a troubled teenage sharpshooter, striving to avenge the murder of her estranged sister. The soundtrack was composed by Alex Ryan, bassist and musical director for Hozier. It premiered at the 2014 Galway Film Fleadh, before being selected for the prestigious Slamdance Film Festival in the US in January this year. In the wake of its sold out Slamdance premiere it received a number of US distribution offers, as well as being picked up by international distributor CinemaVault. After screening at European film festivals, it will go on general release in Ireland and Britain.

Emma Eliza Regan made her debut in the Abbey Theatre before appearing in The Shadows, Love Eternal (Best Irish Film JDIFF 2014 ), and the Critics Circle award winning The Fading Light. She also appeared opposite Peter Coonan in Get Up and Go earlier this year. She has been signed up to play the leading role in the independent British film, Nursery, written by Dan Schaffer, and she also appears in the forthcoming thriller The Second Coming, alongside Liberties singer-songwriter Pete Doherty.
