Galway based Winters Property has been recognised once again for its property services expertise when named winner of the Project of the Year at the recent 2015 Irish Facilities Management Awards.
Winters Property was also shortlisted for the Overall Excellence Award with entrants drawn from the property industry nationwide, both Irish and international companies.
The winning project was a direct consequence of the storms which caused heavy flooding in Salthill and across the country in January 2014. The winning entry was summarised as "demonstrating Winters Property’s ability to react to an extreme facility management disaster by providing excellent and timely project management services to clients". Following an extreme weather event and subsequent emergency evacuation of an apartment complex, Winters Property, working with the Owners Management Company, reoccupied the facility in nine weeks. In addition to restoring all services, all utilities were relocated to prevent future disasters of this nature and to minimise future insurance premiums on the buildings, as well as delivering savings on operating costs. This was all completed well under the initial proposed budget and in less time than was initially forecast.
Managing director of Winters Property, Enda McGuane, says the national award recognises its property management team for their excellent operating standards and their ability to respond to a crisis situation.
"The judges were particularly impressed with the way our team worked with the owners management company to achieve the best outcome in the circumstances for all owners, as well as the speed with which the building was reoccupied.”
Winters Property is one of the largest property services providers in the country with in excess of 7,500 commercial and residential units under management, and 600 properties leased across the west of Ireland. It is the largest private student accommodation operator in the country with more than 2,000 beds in five sites in Galway and Athlone.
Winters Property is licensed by the National Property Services Regulatory Authority (NPSRA ) and its professional staff hold SCSI and RICS memberships. Employing 42 staff and with a rapidly expanding commercial and residential sales and valuations division, Enda McGuane says " Winters are definitely on the move. “
