Walks and readings at Coole this month

There will be a variety of free events in Coole throughout July.

Following the very well attended Yeats’ birthday celebrations, there will be a couple of guided walks on the theme of Yeats at Coole, on Sundays July 5 and 19. Go along for a stroll through the magical landscape that inspired Yeats to write some of his best loved poetry. The walk will be punctuated by short excerpts of his poems relating to Coole, where he spent 20 summers.

On Sunday July 26 there will be a fun family walk suitable for all ages. Learn about the nature and history of Coole on an informal walk with one of the NPWS guides.

The ever popular children’s nature activities return on Tuesdays July 14, 21, and 28. Places are limited so booking is essential. These activities are aimed at five to 10-year-olds and children must be accompanied by an adult.

All events start at 3pm at the visitor centre and last approximately one and a half hours. Booking is unnecessary for walks.
