SHIR MADNESS, the Galway based burlesque performer, who describes herself as a "curvy, fiery circus freak who likes to tease", will be a finalist at Miss Burlesque Ireland, which takes place in Dublin on July 18.
Originally hailing from Marseilles, southern France, Shirt has become one of Ireland's leading burlesque performers through her Hula-Hooping act - which involves impressive and dextrous skill, as well as touches of dance, comedy, and theatre - as well as being resplendent in very little except the lingerie she designs and handmakes herself.
She has performed in France and Britain and at the Belfast and Dublin burlesque festivals. Her next appearance will be at Miss Burlesque Ireland, which takes place in The Button Factory, Dublin, on Saturday July 18. Galwegians can show their support through www.facebook.com/shirmadness, @shirmadhoop, and the hashtag #TeamMadness. Tickets are available on eventbrite.ie
Shir is also the co-producer behind Galway's latest festival - the Galway Burlesque Festival which takes place from September 18 to 20. The event will run across Galway city and feature shows from Irish and international performers; workshops; Dr Sketchy’s cabaret life drawing session; and a vintage market.
