The Galway City Council has won a national LAMA Award for its Galway Coach Station and Webworks building, which it developed with McNamara Construction and Enterprise Ireland.
The coach station and Webworks building won the overall award in the best mixed development category, competing with other shortlisted projects from around the country.
The awards ceremony took place in the Citywest Hotel, Dublin, last weekend. More than 500 guests drawn from the local government, engineering, construction, and infrastructural sectors in Ireland attended the ceremony.
At the event, Labour Cllr Tom Costello, deputising for the Mayor, and the council’s Director of Services for transport and infrastructure Ciarán Hayes received this national award on behalf of City Hall.
The coach station was competing for the prize with Shamrock Plaza, Carlow; Tallaght Cross Centre; and Aldercourt Developments, Ferns, Co Wexford.
The LAMA (Local Authority Member Association ) Awards were established to recognise excellence in construction, engineering and infrastructural projects and to acknowledge particular developments for their outstanding contribution to the community.
