TRACY BRUEN, the multi-talented Galway indie-folk singer-songwriter will play the Mná Mná night in the Róisín Dubh this week and the Body & Soul festival this weekend.
Tracy's music combines indie, folk, and blues and manages to be both infectious and rhythmic, while also being unapologetically quirky and left-field. A multi-instrumentalist and classically trained singer, Tracy engages a wide vocal range to explore the elements of the voice as an instrument in her songs.
Tracy plays Mná Mná Music in the upstairs bar of the Róisín Dubh on Wednesday June 17 at 8.30pm. Tracy and her band will also play two slots at the Body & Soul festival, which runs from this Friday to Sunday in Ballinlough Castle, County Westmeath. They will play on the Pagoda Stage at 7pm and in the Bulmers lounge at 9.15pm, both on the Saturday.
She has also received critical praise for her songs. We Plug Good Music said her "indecisive voice of husky, whispery, and sky-reaching heights is unapologetically Kate Bush-like and the blend of hill-walking candle-lit voyaging and blues guitar make it both timeless and fitting with the current music trend".
Mná Mná Music on Wednesday will also see performances from Beware Of You and Menta Fresca.
Dublin post-hardcore/alternative pop-punk quintet Beware Of You, are led by vocalist Leah Moore and guitarist Tara Behan, and they have already attracted the attention of critics. State.ie said the band were "already staking a claim to their place on the vibrant Irish punk and hardcore scene", while Youbloom.com said, "Beware of You have been busy this year drawing blood from the stone of pop punk and creating something earnestly elemental with their loot." Their self-recorded demo 'All I Know' was released in March, while their second demo, 'Breaking Down Doors', came out in April. A debut album is planned for early 2016.
Galway based Menta Fresca, led by vocalist/guitarist Delia de Luna, combines traditional Latin influences with original songs. Admission is €5.
