Saint Patrick’s Boys School, known to generations of Galwegians as simply ‘Pats’, is now enrolling pupils for the 2015/2016 school year. Saint Pat’s is a landmark Galway school steeped in history and tradition and is the Junior School for Saint Joseph’s College.
The school prides itself on providing its students with a warm, nourishing, inclusive environment where children can learn, play, and reach their full potential. Pupils are constantly encouraged, and the dignity and uniqueness of each child given priority. This includes individualised tuition for high achievers, and for those who need learning support. A highly favourable student/teacher ratio ensures that each and every pupil receives the attention that they need.
There is also a wide range of sporting options and activities on offer at St Pat’s, including hurling, football, table tennis, soccer, swimming, and Olympic handball. The school has a rich history of success in many fields. Most recently, St Pat’s five-aside soccer team was crowned all Ireland champions in 2014. The school also boasts county championship winning teams in football, hurling, Olympic handball, handball, and debating.
Other facilities on offer at the school include a book rental scheme, a dedicated rainbow activity room, an art and science room, a modern computer suite, and much more. Music lessons are also available, with students being given the opportunity to participate in the highly regarded Patrician Brass Band. Pupils are also given the chance to get involved in producing an annual school magazine entitled Pat’s Chat.
St Pat’s also provides its students with life lessons alongside its educational curriculum, including regular engagement with the local community through charitable activities. Students can also get involved in after-school clubs and activities that run up to 5pm each day. Pupils of St Pat’s also get priority in terms of enrolment in St Joseph’s Secondary School.
A number of information evenings will take place next week to give prospective students and their parents a chance to acquaint themselves with the school. The meetings will take place in the Clayton Hotel on June 2 from 7pm to 8pm, in the Clybaun Hotel on June 3 from 7pm to 8pm, and in the Maldron Hotel, Oranmore, on June 4 from 7pm to 8pm. Light refreshments will be served and all are welcome to attend.
