Celtic Revival museum opens next week

EMBROIDERED BANNERS designed by Jack B Yeats are among the items of Celtic Revival art that will be on display in the Clonfert Diocesan Museum in Loughrea.

The Celtic Revival covers a variety of movements and trends which took place in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, which drew on the traditions of Celtic literature and art, and more specifically the early medieval style of Ireland and Britain. As well as the banners by Yeats, there is further work created by the Dun Emer Guild, which included the Yeats sisters, as well as art by Sarah Purser and Evie Hone.

The museum is located on the grounds of Saint Brendan's Cathedral, Barrack Street, and is open from 3pm to 6pm Monday to Friday from June 2 to August 28. Admission is free.
