FRESH FROM a stint on Red Rock, after appearing in George Clooney's Monuments Men, actor Declan Mills comes to The Town Hall Theatre with Arthur's Dig on Thursday June 11 at 8pm.
Arthur’s Dig, written by Mark Wale and directed by Tara Derrington, looks at one man’s epic struggle to bulldoze through the Irish economic crash and build his own future. The construction industry is in crisis. Sacked from his job, Arthur punches his brother-in-law boss, Bill. The fallout is devastating for Arthur and his wife, Jenny. As they struggle to recover by building a house on their own land, mounting pressure fractures their relationship. When Jenny discovers she is pregnant, Arthur’s building obsession polarises them further, forcing Jenny into the arms of the enemy. Is Arthur ready to take full responsibility for his choices?
The play has enjoyed much critical acclaim. The Metro Herald, said Declan Mills was "impressive in a non-stop action performance"; the Irish Mail On Sunday said he "shines in a demanding, multi-faceted performance"; while the Sunday Independent praised Mills "energetic and feeling performance".
