JOHN B Keane's Big Maggie, about a widow who must deal with unruly children and unwanted suitors, will be staged by the Athenry Drama Group in An Taibhdhearc on Thursday May 28 and Friday 29 at 8pm.
On the death of her husband Maggie is determined to create a better life for herself and her children. Problems arise when her vision of the future begins to sit with increasing discomfort on the shoulders of her surly offspring, prompting rebellion in the camp, and then come the men looking for a piece of Maggie and her property.
The director is Terry Nolan and the cast are Elaine Kavanagh, Sandra Carroll, Leo Coffey, Patricia Dempsey, John Joe Costello, Daniel Hanlon, Ciaran Commins, Deirdre Rabbitte, Justin Brody, Laoise McKeogh, and Angela Mangan. Set design and construction is by Cha Taylor, Juno Barrett, and Fergal McFadden.
