Galway construction company Stewart enjoys double success at national awards

Galway and Dublin based building contractors Stewart had a double celebration at the Irish Building & Design Awards 2015 whenMarty Whelan, announced Stewart as ‘Contractor of the Year’ for the second year running and awarded its chairman, Seán Stewart, the honorary award of ‘Construction Leader’ for his contribution to the industry.

The future looks bright for family run contractors ‘Stewart’ as they have announced a two fold increase in turnover over the past few years. The Galway and now also Dublin-based company is now one of the leading contractors in the country with an impressive compilation of prominent public and private sector projects nationwide. The company attribute their continued growth to a combination of delivering for strong repeat business clients such as ALDI for whom Stewart has now completed 61 stores; their continued focus on design and build and high specification commercial developments along with the addition of larger contracts and new work in the pharmaceutical and agri-food sectors. 

On site in the IDA Business Park in Grange Castle, Dublin Stewart is nearing completion of the new €35m International Logistics Centre for  GRIFOLS Pharmaceutical Company. This will be GRIFOLS first facility in Ireland.

The 230,000 sq.ft plant has been developed for the storage and distribution of various blood plasma products, along with plasma screening, stabilisation and research laboratories and a three-storey administration office block for its worldwide operations.

Other recent and notable building projects include the largest Gaelscoil in Ireland, Coláiste na Coiribe (€10m ) in Galway city and the extensive €9m refurbishment and fit out of Knock Basilica, the Basilica’s first refurbishment since it was originally built in 1976.

A  Deloitte ‘Best Managed Company,’ Stewart has strategically grown their pool of resources, allowing them to focus on a wider range of larger and more challenging projects.

Recognized for their ability in the design and build arena they are also known for their expertise in sustainable construction and project delivery through BIM.

Staying ahead of the curve in new project delivery tools and innovations is tempered by longevity and a culture of taking the responsible approach and having cognisance of varying stakeholder needs in what was a turbulent decade in construction.
