New Mustang fastest-ever high-volume Euro Ford

The new Ford Mustang will deliver 0-100km/h acceleration in under five seconds, making it the fastest accelerating high-volume Ford model ever offered in Europe.

The company also revealed more than 2,200 customers have ordered the new Ford Mustang since the iconic car became available across Europe earlier this year.

The Ford Mustang, on sale in Europe for the first time in the car’s 50-year history, is available with Ford’s 5.0-litre V8 engine, delivering 421 PS and 530Nm of torque, or the more fuel-efficient 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine, delivering 317 PS and 432 Nm of torque.

The 5.0-litre V8 fastback model with six-speed manual transmission reaches 100km/h from a standing start in 4.8 seconds – faster than any Ford in Europe since the low-volume Ford GT supercar launched in 2005. The Ford Mustang 2.3-litre EcoBoost Fastback manual reaches the marker in 5.8 seconds.

Ford Mustang drivers can optimise the car’s performance to suit their mood and driving conditions using selectable drive modes, and away from the public highway can use track apps to monitor driving performance. Ford Mustang 5.0-litre V8 drivers also can achieve the fastest possible acceleration off the line on the track assisted by launch control technology. Mustang also delivers up to 0.97 g-force when cornering.

Equipped with Ford’s 2.3-litre EcoBoost engine the new Ford Mustang also delivers up to 8.0 l/100 km fuel efficiency and 179 g/km CO2 emissions.

Fun on road

and track

The new Ford Mustang’s high performance engines are supported by a standard performance pack in Europe that delivers uprated brakes and cooling for high-speed driving. A sophisticated chassis and body structure, and advanced technology, also help optimise driving dynamics to deliver the sporty experience Ford Mustang customers demand.

Selectable drive modes are controlled using toggle switches in the centre console and adjust the ‘advancetrac’ electronic stability control, throttle response, automatic gear-shift patterns, and steering to match normal, sport+, track or snow/wet settings. Selectable effort electric power-assisted steering enables drivers to choose a normal, comfort or sport steering weight and feel.

To help drivers get the most from the car at the track, the Ford Mustang also delivers Tyrack apps that can be controlled via the steering wheel and viewed in the

instrument panel, including accelerometer, acceleration timer and brake performance, which measures braking time and distance from a set speed.

Classic design and modern equipment

The new Ford Mustang is available in fastback and convertible bodystyles with six-speed manual and automatic transmissions, and features classic design elements including three-dimensional, tri-bar taillamps, signature trapezoidal grille and shark-bite front fascia.

Ford has started production of the first LHD European specification Ford Mustangs at its Flat Rock facility, Michigan, US, in 10 exterior colours and equipped as standard with 19-inch wheels, automatic HID headlamps, dual-zone climate control, LED tail lamps, and a rear diffuser.

Further standard equipment includes a nine-speaker sound system, and SYNC 2 voice control connectivity with 8-inch colour touch screen. Ford Mustang is exclusively available to order in Europe at new FordStore locations opening across the region. The first LHD vehicles are set to reach dealerships in continental Europe from July and RHD vehicles will be in Ireland and Britain from November.
