The Galway senior hurling championship kicks off this weekend with 10 senior games down for decision.
With the new format and no preliminary games this season, every game in the championship is important, and clubs will be keen to get two points on the board in the first round.
There are a host of attractive fixtures over the two days, but the meeting of Portumna and Turloughmore on Saturday (6.30pm ) in Loughrea will be one most neutrals will want to see.
There is also an attractive double header in Kenny Park on Sunday when county champions Gort take on Ardrahan (5pm ), followed by Carnmore and Castlegar at 6.30pm.
Mulhollands has already opened a book on which team will top the respective groups and it also have installed Portumna as 10/3 favourites to be county champions by the end of the year.
Other favourites include current county champions Gort at 7/2, Loughrea 5/1, St Thomas 7/1, with Turloughmore, whose last county senior title was 30 years ago in 1985, at 8/1.
It promises to be a long and arduous campaign before anyone annexes the Tom Callanan Cup next autumn and the action kicks off this weekend.
