TONGUE FU, a riotous experiment in live literature, music, film, and improv, and one of London’s best attended spoken word nights, is coming to Galway.
Tongue Fu takes place in the Róisín Dubh this Saturday at 8.30pm, as part of the Cúirt International Festival of Literature. It will be hosted by Tongue Fu founder, poet, and musician Chris Redmond.
Chris started Tongue Fu in 2007 with musician Riaan Vosloo, in a room above The Betsy Trotwood in London’s Clerkenwell. They gathered poets, musicians, and an audience, to find out what would happen if they put on a show mixing poetry, music, and spoken word, but with no rehearsal.
It turned out to be a very good idea as the night has gone from strength to straight. The Guardian called it “poetry, but not as you know it…amazing” while The London Word called it “hilarious then heartbreaking and politically enraged, Tongue Fu has to be experienced to be believed.”
Tickets are €15 through www.roisindubh.net and the Town Hall Theatre (091 - 569777, www.tht.ie ).
