ConTempo to perform Beethoven quartets

“BEETHOVEN’S MUSIC is not written for the generation of mankind that reached the moon, or the iphone generation; it goes beyond that; for those yet to come! It is timeless.”

So say the RTÉ ConTempo Quartet about the music of the great German composer, a number of whose quartets they will perform in St Nicholas’ Collegiate Church over the next three Saturdays.

The first concert (April 25 ) will hear the quartets Op 18 No 3 and Op 127. There will be an introduction by film-maker Bob Quinn. The second concert (May 2 ) features quartets Op 18 No 1 and Op 132, with an introduction by music educator Mairéad Berrill; and the third concert (May 9 ) is quartets Op 18 No 2 and Op 130, with an introduction by composer Jane O’Leary.

All concerts run from 7.30pm to 9pm. Tickets are €10/8 (adult ), €6 (student ), and €25/22 (concert series ) available on the door, through 091 - 586706, or [email protected].
