Cúirt festival opens next week

The 30th Cúirt International Festival of Literature opens on Wednesday April 22 with an official reception and a poetry reading.

The official reception takes place in the Rowing Club, Woodquay, at 6pm, while the reading will be by leading Irish poet Paul Durcan in the Town Hall Theatre at 8.30pm.

This year’s programme includes critically acclaimed English novelist Jon McGregor [see Shooting The Breeze interview in today’s edition], Trainspotting author Irvine Welsh, Canadian writer Lawrence Hill, and Irish literary rising star Sara Baume.
