Derelict buildings, and issues of parking, signage, facilities, tourism, and bus access for Salthill will be raised at a public meeting next week.
The Galway Chamber of Commerce Salthill and the City Centre Rejuvenation committee are hosting a ‘Salthill Rejuvenation’ meeting in the Galway Bay Hotel next Tuesday April 21 at 6.30pm.
The meeting, which is open to Salthill businesses, will be chaired by Labour Galway City West councillor Niall McNelis. Also on the agenda will be entering Salthill into the 2016 Tidy Towns competition; the possibility of extending the purple flag to the area; and establishing a Salthill festival.
“Our first job is to put together a team of ‘doers’ for Salthill,” said Cllr McNelis. “By planning and putting a wish list on paper, we will have goals that will be met. There is a wealth of talent in Salthill and some brilliant businesses, and by coming together we can fight back.”
