GMIT will hold its last Open Day of the academic year on Saturday for secondary school students, parents, career teachers, and mature students.
Information will be available on courses in all GMIT campuses, including Mayo (Castlebar ), Letterfrack, Mountbellew and the two Galway city campuses. Students and staff will be on hand to answer questions and provide brochures and information on programmes in business, computing & IT, engineering, furniture design and technology, science, nursing and social studies, tourism, creative arts /media, and outdoor education.
It will include campus tours and activities, learning experience talks, SUSI College finance clinics, career clinics, CAO guidance, graduate showcase, and GMIT Students Union exhibition.
CAO statistics reveal that some 6,000 applicants who registered with the CAO have still not indicated their course preferences. Dr Carina Ginty, GMIT schools’ liaison officer, says the GMIT Open Day is an opportunity for those students to discuss their their options.
“It’s always good to speak to someone who has first-hand experience of the course and the college, be they a lecturer, student or graduate. It’s also good to come in and see what the college is like and what facilities and services are offered.
“We hope what they learn will help them make correct choices before the change of mind deadline on July 1.”
