Bohermore native ordained deacon in Rome

A 25-year-old Galwegian, Daniel Gallagher from Bohermore, has been ordained a deacon in Rome over Easter.

Bishop Martin Drennan of Galway performed the ceremony in the Basilica San Silvestro in Capite in the centre of Rome this week.

Rev Daniel Gallagher began his studies for the priesthood in St Patrick’s College, Maynooth, before being sent by the Bishop to continue his studies at the Irish College in Rome, where Fr Hugh Clifford of the Galway Diocese is the director of formation.

Family and friends from Galway travelled to Rome for the occasion. Daniel will be ordained to the priesthood for the Galway Diocese next year.
