Galway Technology Centre has announced the completion of the first phase of a €360K investment in its 50,000sq. ft. facility in the IDA Business Park in Mervue, Galway.
The investment programme will be carried out over three years and includes refurbishment of meeting rooms and public areas, installation of new air conditioning systems, lifts and fire alarms, and upgrading of its telecommunications infrastructure.
The first phase included the refurbishment of the ground floor meeting rooms, reception and atrium space and the creation of informal break out areas for client companies.
The investment programme comes on the back of record growth for Galway Technology Centre who has reported 33 per cent increase in revenues and occupancy rates up by 30 per cent to 90 per cent at end of 2014.
Minister for Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation Richard Bruton, TD viewed the upgraded facilities and met with tenants of Galway Technology Centre when he visited Galway last Monday.
Chairman of Galway Technology Centre, Frank Greene, said he is delighted that the Minister was available to view at first hand the work they are doing in Galway Technology Centre and that they are committed to offering the best incubation space and a full range of support services to early stage businesses.
“This investment by the board provides entrepreneurs with leading edge facilities that can give them a technical advantage. It enables these early stage companies to accelerate their growth and graduate successfully thus allowing space to become available to exciting new enterprises."
The largest community enterprise centre in Ireland, Galway Technology Centre is currently home to 41 start-ups, growing companies and SME’s employing in excess of 200 people.
The centre has supported over 140 companies and 1200 high value jobs in the west since its establishment in 1994. Galway Technology Centre has had a full time manager appointed through the Enterprise Ireland Business Development Manager Programme in 2013.
