The Galway hurlers face the long trek to Walsh Park this Sunday for the Allianz Hurling league quarter-finals where they face Waterford (4pm ) in the last eight.
Waterford have enjoyed a good league campaign thus far. Unbeaten in Division 1B, a draw with Limerick in the first round was the only blemish on their record.
They defeated Wexford last Sunday 0-22 to 0-16 in Wexford Park to ensure they topped the division 1B table.
Anthony Cunningham and his management team will be hoping to avoid three defeats on the trot following consecutive losses to Cork and Dublin.
They went down by 0-26 to 2-14 last weekend to Dublin in Parnell Park in a forerunner to their next meeting in May in the Leinster championship.
Galway led by 2-9 to 0-13 at the break, but Dublin really moved up the gears in the second half and left Galway trailing in their wake. Ger Cunningham's side hit 0-13 to Galway's 0-5 in the second half.
The Galway goals came from Cathal Mannion and Joe Canning.
Galway do not have a great record against the Déise in the recent past and they defeated Galway by 0-22 to 1-13 in last year’s Allianz Hurling League Division 1A campaign.
The winners of next Sunday's clash will face either Tipperary or Offaly in the league semi-finals on April 19.
Sunday's game will be televised live on TG4.
