Moore leads medal haul for Galway athletes

Emma Moore was the star at the National Juvenile Indoor Championships in Athlone, winning two individual gold medals, one individual silver, and also a relay gold as part of the u-13 girls’ record-breaking 4x100m team.

The relay team of Sarah Agboola, Eimear Rowe, Sinead Duggan, Chellene Trill and Moore set a new record of 53.81 seconds. The u-17 boys also won their 4x200m relay impressively in 1.33.41, while the u-18 girls’ team won silver.

Moore set a new championship best time of 1:45.53 in the u-12 600m, knocking two seconds off the old record before rejoining the high jump ,which she won, with a clearance of 1.30m.

Lydia Doyle ran a big personal best in the u-16 60m to claim a bronze medal in 8.05, Sean Kilmartin also took bronze in the u-17 60m in 7.29, while Sinead Treacy of Craughwell won the u-19 60m in a blistering 7.84 seconds. Conor Duggan claimed bronze in the u-19 60m in 7.02, while Craughwell’s Jerry Keary jumped a brilliant 1.70m to take silver in the u-16 high jump. Clubmate Lukas Schukat had a brilliant series of jumps in the u-12 grade, to secure bronze.
