NUI Galway has officially opened its new campus pharmacy.
Operated by Matt O’Flaherty Chemists, the store stocks a wide range of pharmaceutical, cosmetic and toiletry products, and will also provide a consultancy service for general health and well-being matters.
Development of the new store came as a direct result of a NUI Galway student/staff survey conducted in October 2014, which highlighted a strong demand for a pharmacy on campus.
To celebrate the official launch of the pharmacy, well-known makeup artist and beauty blogger, Chloe Boucher, who boasts a strong online following, gave two Youngblood Mineral Cosmetics Makeup master classes on the day to NUI Galway students. The event proved highly popular, with up to 200 ticket-holders in attendance. The event was also streamed live on YouTube.
Present for the ribbon-cutting ceremony were NUI Galway bursar, Mary Dooley; Ann Duggan, NUI Galway Commercial Manager; Colman and Paula O’Flaherty, of Matt O Flaherty Chemists; Students’ Union president Declan Higgins and Students’ Union welfare officer, Aoife Ní Shúilleabháin.
Commercial manager at NUI Galway, Ann Duggan, said it was an exciting new venture which would see the university respond to the needs of the campus community.
NUI Galway and loyalty cards are available in store.
The pharmacy is located on the ground floor of the Hardiman Building.
