SATURDAY MARCH 21 is European Day of Early Music which Galway will mark with a concert of medieval and renaissance music and a harp workshop.
Launched in 2013 by the European Early Music Network, the European Day of Early Music is presented in cooperation with the European Broadcasting Union. Galway Early Music is organising the local events.
A coffee concert of Mediaeval and Renaissance music takes place at 4pm in St Nicholas Collegiate Church, featuring the harp, recorder, and voice. The 2015 Galway Early Music Festival programme will also be launched. Tickets are €10.
The early Irish harp taster workshop, presented in collaboration with the Historical Harp Association of Ireland, will give participants a chance to see, hear, and try the early Irish harp, a harp strung with brass, silver, and sometimes gold. Tickets are €20.
