DYLAN MORAN, one of Ireland’s leading comedians, and the star of Black Books, Shaun of the Dead, and Calvary, brings his new stand up show Off The Hook, to the 2015 Vodafone Comedy Carnival Galway.
Off The Hook takes place in the Black Box Theatre on Tuesday October 20, Wednesday 21, and Thursday 22, and tickets will go on sale on Monday March 9 at 9am. His first Irish and British show in three years and promises plenty of the comic’s unique take on love, politics, misery, and the everyday absurdities of life, delivered with his trademark poetical panache.
Moran, who has been referred to as 'The Oscar Wilde of comedy', has recently been sharpening his deceptively rambling stand-up in unusual places including Kiev, Moscow and Kazakhstan - making him the first western comic to perform in St Petersburg. He has spent much of the last year touring the US while working on a TV pilot for ABC and an appearance on Letterman.
The Irishman also enjoys critical acclaim. The Scotsman said his jokes are “as sharp as barbed wire...rarely have the rafters of the Playhouse shook so dangerously to the sound of laughter”. The Telegraph called him “a supremely confident performer, his timing for delivering punch lines is something special”.
Tickets are €30 (including booking fees ) from the Town Hall Theatre (091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie ), the Róisín Dubh (www.roisindubh.net ), OMG @ Zhivago, Shop Street (091 - 509960 ), and Ticketmaster outlets nationwide. Doors for the shows will be at 7pm. The show is not suitable for under-15s.
The festival runs from Tuesday 20 to Monday 27 this year. See also www.vodafonecomedycarnival.com
