THE LATE Mark Logan, percussionist with the Disconauts, passionate Chelsea FC fan, and all-round top bloke, will be remembered and celebrated at a special Mad About Mark night in the Róisín Dubh this Friday [March 27] at 9pm.
DJs and musicians from across Ireland pay their respects to Mark, who sadly passed away one year ago, and together raise awareness and funds for JIGSAW Galway, HandInHandWest, and the Galway Simon Community.
Speaking about the event, Padraic from the Disconauts said, “We (Disconauts ), Kevin Healy, (Róisín Dubh ) and Mark’s family and friends wanted to something to honour the wonderful man he was. Mark had such a positive impact on people through his music and his work and we want to continue that in some way.
“Mad About Mark will be an annual event that celebrates his memory but also raises awareness and much needed funds for the three charities. All acts on the night – local and national – are giving their services for free and we’re thrilled that every cent raised is going to HandInHandWest, Galway Simon, and JIGSAW.”
Downstairs in Roisin Dubh will resound to the house, funk, disco and party sounds of Get Down Edits, Fish Go Deep, Together Disco DJs, Disconauts, Arveene, Shake! DJs Aran & Ray and Anthony Collins while a slew of Galway’s finest musicians get together for a joyous singalong session upstairs in the bar.
Galway Simon provides housing, support, and health care services to the homeless in the west of Ireland. JIGSAW Galway is a free, non-judgemental, and confidential support service for 15 to 25-year-olds in Galway city and county who are going through a difficult or distressing time. HandInHandWest is a local charity who provide practical support for families affected by childhood cancer.
