“Women’s lives have changed dramatically since International Women’s Day was first celebrated back in the 1900s. However, much work remains to be done to achieve gender equality in all aspects of life in Ireland and around the world. That is why International Women’s Day has become such a significant global event, drawing our attention to the great gains made by women and the vital work that remains to be done.
“I would like to extend a very warm welcome to women around Galway to come and join us in the Harbour Hotel from 12pm to 2pm on Saturday March 7 for a cup of tea, a chat and to reflect on the great contribution women have made, and continue to make to life, in our region, our country and beyond. Hopefully, we will all be leaving the event energised for the months ahead,” she said.
