HERMITAGE GREEN, led by former Irish rugby international Barry Murphy, play Kelly’s, Bridge Street, on St Patrick’s Day at 9.30pm, and tickets are selling fast.
Barry made 71 appearances for Munster and four for Ireland during his playing career. Tommy Bowe has described Hermitage Green as “quality” while Jamie Heaslip said they are “absolutely class”.
The quintet’s sound combines hard-hitting rhythms driven by the bodhrán and djembe, rhythmic guitar lines, with Dobro melodies, and soaring four-part vocal harmonies. Their 2012 debut EP The Gathering went to No 1 in the iTunes chart. Their debut album, Live At Whelans, was released in 2013.
Hermitage Green have toured France, Britain, the Middle East, South Africa, and the US, as well as playing Sydney Harbour on Australia Day. They have also played Electric Picnic.
