IRISH JAZZ/folk musician Aengus Hackett and Turkish singer Sanem Kalfa, have joined forces to explore their respective country’s traditional music.The results of this collaboration will be heard during the Irish-Turkish Project tour which comes to Galway on Thursday March 12 at 1pm in The Cube Theatre, NUI Galway, and Friday 13 at 9pm in Campbell’s Tavern, Cloughanover.
Originally from Galway, Aengus received musical education from members of De Dannan and Planxty, and studied jazz at the Conservatory of Amsterdam. Sanem has performed at the 12 Points Festival in Dublin and won first prize at the 2010 Montreux Jazz Voice Competition.
Admission to the NUIG concert is free but seating is limited. Admission to the Campbell’s gig is €10.
