THEY HAVE “every right to be claimed as Ireland’s best live act right now,” according to Golden Plec; they are Ireland’s first New Orleans style brass band, and they have just released their first EP.
They are the Booka Brass Band, making a welcome return to the Róisín Dubh on Friday March 6 at 9pm. The show comes amid a busy time for the octet who released their debut EP BBB last week - available through Bandcamp - and a video for their cover of Beyoncé’s ‘Crazy In Love’ with singer Hannah Grace.
Over the last year the band have played the Galway International Arts Festival, Glastonbury, and Electric Picnic, while also collaborating with James Vincent McMorrow, Lisa Hannigan, Paul Noonan, and We Cut Corners. The Bookas have won critical acclaim for their energetic and exciting live shows. As In Dublin said: “Booka Brass Band are undoubtedly a ‘have to see it to believe it’ type of act. A range of high energy self-penned tunes combined with quite incredible covers...have those in attendance screaming for more as they leave the stage.”
Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
