A Galway man is running a full marathon on a treadmill on Saturday to raise funds for Self Help Africa.
Diarmuid Ó Conchubhair will undergo the challenge at NRG Helath and Fitness in Bohermore between 10am and 2pm on behalf of Self Help Africa.
Ó Conchubhair is aiming to complete the treadmill marathon as a training day before taking part in a 24 hour adventure event, The Race, for the same charity.
The 24 hour race is a 250km unsupported endurance event across the rugged landscape of north west Donegal. It includes a 22km run,15km kayak, 100km of a cycle to the bottom of Muckish mountain, 5km of mountain running (up and down Muckish mountain ), a 65km cycle, and finally a 43km road and trail run.
Ó Conchubhair says 100 per cent of all money raised goes to GORTA- Self Help Africa.
Any donations on the day will be welcome or at: http://www.mycharity.ie/event/diarmuidtherace/.
NRG is also getting on board, donating any one-day gym pass to the charity, as well as providing a one-day pass for any charitable donations on the day.
